Flame Retardant Mechanism of Tetrabromoether
Halogen-based flame retardants include tetrabromoether and chlorine-based flame retardant mechanisms. Halogen flame retardant mechanism is one of the organic flame retardants with large production in the world. In halogen flame retardants, most of them are tetrabromoether flame retardants. In industrial production, tetrabromoether can be divided into additive type, reactive type and polymer type. There are more than 20 kinds of additive flame retardants, more than 10 kinds of macromolecule brominated flame retardants and more than 20 kinds of reactive brominated flame retardants in the domestic and foreign markets.
The reason why tetrabromoether will be favored by consumers is mainly because of its high flame retardant efficiency and appropriate price, because the bond energy of C-Br is low and most of them are the decomposition temperature of bromine flame retardants, while in the environment of 200-300 degrees Celsius, it is just the decomposition temperature range of commonly used polymers, so it has high polymer composition. In the decomposition process, brominated flame retardants can also be decomposed simultaneously, and can capture free radicals of polymer materials during decomposition, thereby prolonging or inhibiting the combustion reaction.
At the same time, HBr released by tetrabromoether itself is a kind of non-flammable gas, which can cover the surface of the material, thus playing the role of barrier and dilution of oxygen concentration, while tetrabromoether flame retardants can be used with antimony system, through the same effect, the flame retardancy of tetrabromoether can be more obvious.
